Second Lieutenant Folliott Warren Barton

 

 

Folliott Warren Barton of Clonelly, Co. Fermanagh, was born at Murga, New South Wales, on 2 September 1876, the eldest son of Thomas Barton and Anne Barton (nee Irvine).  He farmed for 26 years in Australia before coming to Ireland.

According to biographical information published early in the century, he was Justice of the Peace for the Counties of Fermanagh and Donegal, Deputy Lieutenant for Co. Fermanagh, High Sheriff for Co. Fermanagh in 1905; and was a member of the Fermanagh Harriers, and the Fermanagh County, Automobile, Dublin and Enniskillen Yacht Clubs.

Barton was commissioned as a 2nd Lieutenant on 21 May 1904 and joined the North of Ireland Imperial Yeomanry. On 8 July 1908 he joined the newly-formed North Irish Horse but left the regiment later that year. 

He died on 27 March 1922 in Clonelly House, Kesh, Co. Fermanagh.
